Janet Elaine Smith was a successful magazine writer, with over 1000 published articles to her cred, when she got her big break in June 2000 with the publication of her first novel, Dunnottar. It was chosen as the "launch book" for the new publisher, and it was seen on full back cover ads such as Writer's Digest and The Writer. By August 2000 it was the No. 1 best-selling Scottish book on Amazon.com (out of over 8000 competing titles), a position it held for 3 months.
Just 7 years later, Janet has 15 published novels and 2 non-fiction books. She soon learned that an author has to market both her books and her novels. She had no background in marketing, but the things she tried worked, "because they were so simple they couldn't NOT work," she says. Her marketing secrets are available in her PromoPaks: Nearly Free Marketing Tips for Authors, available now as an ebook from Star Publish LLC (http://starpublish.com) and will soon be released in a print version, which will be available at many online stores and in brick-and-mortar stores across the country.
Having spent 9 years in Venezuela as a missionary, she also shares many topics of interest to Hispanics around the world on Thursday evenings here on her "Vamos a Hablar Español."
